About BRUNO DUCHÊNE
In his former life, Bruno was a wild mushroom distributor in his native Loire and Burgundy. He was so successful that he owned a car phone in the 80's. He eventually headed south for the sunshine of Roussillon and settled in Banyuls. A vigneron in the right place at the right time, the vines he acquired were lovely terraced parcels that were clearly exceptional, but also impossible to work mechanically due to their vertiginous slopes.
His vines are all over 50 years old at a minimum altitude of 300 meters above sea level, cultivated on slate and grown in a dry, ventilated microclimate that allows minimal use of copper and sulfur in the vineyard. Bruno tends to his vines as naturally as possible, which is to be expected as he’s a graduate of the school of Burgundy’s organic icon Frederic Cossard.
Bruno’s wines are incredibly rare and delicious wines. Unfortunately there will never be enough to go around as the small production has loyal (and passionate) demand placed on it with each vintage.
