Domaine des Grottes Où Est Chardy?

Domaine des Grottes Où Est Chardy?
In the early 2000s Romain des Grottes exchanged his native Paris for the Beaujolais to help manage his aging grandfather's estate & farm, Chateau de Lacarelle. Although it was supposed to be a management job in the office, well-suited to his business degree, he eventually took over a few rows of vines and one thing led to another. Soon he was fully engaged in farming, the vineyards, and working in the cellar. His rustic/raw style wines are idiosyncratic and defy any typical wine comparisons.
Domaine des Grottes makes wines that are free from additives, and has been certified biodynamic since 2006. He loves fruit, the acidity, the bubbles, and makes wines that are intended to accompany you from aperitif to dessert.

In Beaujolais where the majority of the grapes are Gamay, it was not easy to find Chardonnay grapes. Romain did not have to think twice when he was offered the opportunity to buy grapes from an organic winegrower in Quincié in the middle of the harvest period. Où Est Chardy is light, tight and fresh.
